I think the answer will be no, but I don't suppose anyone wants to go to Ladytron tomorrow (Thurs) night? My sister doesn't really want to go with me.Current Music: He Took Her To A Movie - Ladytron

Why am I so irritated by teenage Smashing Pumpkins fans? Perhaps these people were just irritating anyway :)
It's so strange when people 10 years younger than me like bands which I liked when I was their age. But I guess seeing as I got into SP well after they were first cool, I can't really talk. And I got into Radiohead at album 3 so I'm not even particularly old school there either.
I guess I just have to face the fact that I'm getting older, and I will always hate people who are younger than me for being younger than me. Youth is wasted on the young :)
and I guess indie rock pete was right - nothing is any good if other people like it.Current Music: Cherub Rock - The Smashing Pumpkins

Angry bot is a bit red robot from diesel sweeties / that teacher from daria / strong bad - I don't know who was first, I guess Mr Demartino?
oooh - I didn't know dieselsweeties had gone into print - I haven't been reading it for the last year or so (because it wasn't as good as it used to be). now I have to go back and read those, there goes the weekend! |

Heard on triplej yesterday, and almost rendered me incapable of driving for the next 5 mins due to laughing -
"I've been getting into blogging lately, I hadn't previously been into the whole internet thing because, well, I had sex in high school"... :o
ouchies!
I think it was scott dooley who said it. |

Is there a word for feeling as if lyrics written by someone else (most probably about something completely different) fit a situation in your life perfectly?
(update: projection is I think what I was looking for) |

leave a comment and I'll add you if I think your journal looks interesting.

I love you all, but I just have too much to read. and if you don't comment I assume you don't read me. so there's really no point in being on each other's friends lists. sorry! no offence intended. |

Thank christ Radiohead haven't brought out a 'best of' yet. that would just be wrong in so many different ways.
anyway, 'best of's from bands which I've liked all along are really weirding me out at the moment. I own all the placebo and powderfinger albums and they've just come out with 'best of's with one new song on them. bastards! and I would be embarassed to own best ofs by bands whom I actually like (well, even by contemporary bands) because it implies a certain lack of trust for the band. "I wouldn't trust you enough to buy a whole album, but I'll buy a best of and suss you out, then I might consider an album." but then you have the best of so you can't be bothered buying the albums because you've theoretically got all the 'best' songs.
I just bought the best of INXS. Yes, don't disown me yet, hear me out. I've been wanting to buy it for a while, but I keep on talking myself out of it. A year or so ago I downloaded some of it. Anyway, I was going past JB tonight and I gave in. and it's fucking great! It's transported me straight back to my childhood, I'm back in the 80's, I remember hearing these songs on the radio.
So, what 'best of's do you own, and which do you not need to own because you have all the tracks on the band's albums?
I own two REM and two U2 best ofs, I don't think I own any others.
also, what's in your musical closet? |
